NaNoWriMo Starts Tomorrow!
It’s that time of year, NaNoWriMo! As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’ve attempted NaNoWriMo a few times over the last few years, but I keep getting stuck around the 10,000-word mark. This year, I’m hoping to be a bit more successful (maybe reach 25,000 words? The whole 50,000?) and I wanted to put up this quick writing update post to hold myself accountable.
I’ve done a little bit of planning in preparation for the next month—I’ve gone over what I’ve written on this project in previous years and made notes on things I want to change/add in later sections of the book. That’s pretty much all I’ve done, and I think I’m going to try pantsing the rest. I’ve never really tried pantsing this project before (I won’t be truly pantsing but close enough for me), and I’m hoping that writing with more of a reckless abandon will help me break that 10,000-word point.
I don’t want to share too much about this project, as I’ve continuously failed at NaNoWriMo. It’s YA and probably would be categorized as urban fantasy, but maybe if I’m more successful with NaNoWriMo, I could consider sharing more details of the project I’ve had hidden away in my head for almost five years.
Will you be participating in NaNoWriMo? If so, let me know in the comments below if you’re a planner or a pantser. I’d love to know, and maybe we can hold each other accountable during this crazy month of writing.
Until next time, have a lovely rest of your day and read something awesome!
