How do I like to read? Physical/E-book/Audiobook
There are so many ways that we consume stories these days, particularly books! Now, you don't necessarily have to sit down and crack open a physical book to read, you can read an electronic version on your light-weight e-reader or you could even listen to an audiobook when you're driving or doing other tasks.
Despite what some might say, I would say that listening to an audiobook still counts as "reading". Sure, you may not be physically reading a book, but you're still enjoying the story and it's still making you think, which is ultimately the most important part about reading. Not everyone consumes information in the same way, so for some listening to an audiobook might be the most effective way for someone to consume the story and that's totally valid.
So how do I prefer to read? If I could only choose one way to read for the rest of my life, I would definitely have to say reading a physical book. There's something special about opening a book, feeling the smooth pages and inhaling that fresh book smell. This is a part of the experience that is important to me and it’s not something that you can get from an ebook or audiobook.
I will rarely read e-books, unless it's one that I cannot get in physical form (such as the new Ghost of the Shadow Market novellas) or if I’m travelling. That said, recently I've gotten into listening to audiobooks now that I'm rereading Casandra Clare's Shadowhunter Chronicles in preparation for the release of Queen of Air and Darkness this December. Depending on the week, I don't necessarily have a whole lot of time to sit down to read and these books are pretty hefty. Listening to audiobooks allows me to enjoy stories when I have less time and I can even do it while I'm driving to and from work, which is a great bonus!
If you could only read one way for the rest of your life, which way would you choose? Let me know in the comments below.
Until next time, have a lovely rest of your day and read something awesome!
