Welcome to my blog! This is where I blabber on about all things bookish.

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

I love a good readathon! I feel like a readathon is a good kick in the butt to help get me back on track with my reading or help maintain momentum. Tome Topple will be the first of three readathons that I definitely plan on participating in this summer and this will be my first participating in Tome Topple in particular.

Tome Topple was created by Samantha from Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube and this round is running from 12 AM on June 29th until 11:59 PM on June 12th. From watching the announcement video, what intrigued me most about Tome Topple is that it’s a little more relaxed and focuses on intimidating books over 500 pages. I don't plan on participating in any of the challenges, but I will be using this as an excuse to make a dent in the larger books on my TBR. It’s safe to say that this TBR isn’t going to be very long, but here are the two books that I plan on tackling during this readathon.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Renegades takes place in a world where society had been crumbling down and everything had been in chaos until a group of humans with extraordinary abilities called The Renegades established order and peace. They are a symbol of courage and justice for society, except for the villains that they overthrew. Our main character Nova has reason to hate The Renegades and is on a mission for revenge. Then she meets a Renegade boy named Adrian who believes in justice and in Nova. The only issue is Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to destroy her entire world.

I absolutely loved The Lunar Chronicles, so I've been excited to read more of her work, but I've been intimidated by the size. Because if a big book isn't paced in a way that keeps me engaged, sometimes it can through me into a bit of a reading slump and I end up watching a lot of Netflix instead. But I loved all of the Marissa Meyer books that I've read, so I'm sure I'll love this one too!

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue follows a young bisexual man named Henry "Monty" Montague who was bred to be a gentleman, but he has always had a bit of a roguish side. Monty is about to embark on a Grand Tour around Europe to escape his father's expectations to take over the family estate. He plans to spend the next year having adventures with his sister and his best friend Percy, who he is in love with. However, one reckless decision changes their plans all calls everything that Monty knows into question.

I've been dying to read this book for ages and it finally came in the mail this past week! A historical fiction with a bisexual main character and adventure? Totally up my alley and I can't wait to dive in.

That's all for the books that I plan on reading for the Tome Topple Readathon. If you'll be participating, I'd love to know what you'll be reading! Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, have a lovely rest of your day and read something awesome!
